Charles Bradley, Aladdin Theater, MFNW 2011, Portland OR

September 9, 2011

This was a ridiculous show. Gamma radiation hot.
Aladdin crowd smiling.

Sooner or later, people will hear this music again. Either by Charles Bradley or someone younger.

It resonates.

For now, Charles Bradley is inspiring. And this man and his story is amazing.

There will be some jaded cynics. But that won’t be as much fun as going for the ride.

Live? Crazy. First time he fell down to the stage one leg bent and one stretched? I thought he was going to break himself. Charles Bradley is 62. Man. There you go. Combined with a live voice that is so old school soul it will leave your jaw hanging. Did mine.

So. Words are worthless after seeing a performance like that.

If you aren’t already introduced:
Here’s a spotify song link.
“The World (Is Going Up In Flames)”
If you like it, album is No Time For Dreaming.

If you are already on it. And you are reading to see if someone was geeked up by what they saw and even if they are cynical loved it and totally appreciated the headspace it took everyone too? Yeah. Was awesome.

This could become a cultural phenomena. He covered Neil Young’s “Heart Of Gold” tonight. This was totally not a night to be missed. I hope everyone who is into this music gets to a show and supports him. Immediately. I’m sincerely worried this man is going to damage himself. This is truly a man and a performer sharing who he is. As a music fan, this is what we live for. As people, this is what we need.

Amazing night. Thank you.
