SF is my favorite city in the world to visit. By a country mile.
The beer lines are irresponsibly long at the BGCC that make the choice between nutrition (food) and beer (necessary) an epic Sophie’s Choice.
I choose beer.
I am going to charitably say the BGCC has shitty sound.
but…..
don’t give a shit. SF is all about the experience with me. The local concierge all manners (I wouldn’t recommend walking through the Tenderloin at night, no shit?), steering us to the local watering hole. Scott the bartender trading shots with the regulars (have to love California liquor laws), the cabbie from the UK giving the standup on the way, Scott from Redding CA in the beer line giving better standup, and, of course, Bridget the rock n fucking roller in the beer line–with the homemade Joe Cocker T, showcasing her PNW knowledge (I knew you were from the Northwest, with the hair and face…do you have any inappropriate tattoos? Any stars? Do you do heroin? lol)
Fuck. That.
Reason #37 to love SF. The venue smells like weed. In Portland (and I love Portland as much as a person can) the arena rock show bathrooms smell like herb.
So. KOL. 4 albums in. First 2=raw. #3=vocal effects. #4=rough edges sanded down to a nice smooth surface. run your hand over it. So. Inevitable. Cries of sellout from the base as the base expands…it is all good, We are talking live here now.
KOL is learning how to deal with arenas. The show isn’t epic. It isn’t really wild. But the packed floor gave the sing-a-long love. This band has passed the tipping point. Only a question of duration in arenas now.
Set list was mainly….from the first two albums. So there. You know how you build up a show in your mind, because you wanna hear one song? Dangerous. Right? They played everything you wanna hear all night. Come back for the encore. 4 songs in. And shit. You can’t judge a night on if they play one song right? Kinda lame. Kinda hick outta town not cool, cool, cool.
